Private Garden overlooking the marina at The Governor’s Land At Two Rivers in Williamsburg VA.

As the spring season approaches, The Governor’s Land at Two Rivers is getting a little bit greener and we are seeing more blossoming blooms. When you visit our private country club community on the scenic outskirts of Williamsburg, Virginia, you can expect to see even more spring foliage than that around our top-rated, 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course. Well-manicured gardens filled with azaleas, boxwoods, camellias, and much more can be found outside of our community’s waterfront homes.

In honor of Historic Garden Week in April, the Williamsburg Garden Club will showcase this special section of our member-owned community, as well as several Colonial Williamsburg historic area properties that are rarely open to the public.

Historic Garden Week attracts between 1,000 and 1,700 participants in Williamsburg – ranging from local tourists to those visiting from other states and even other countries, such as Canada and Europe. This year marks the 90th anniversary of the event, which is expected to see 25,000 to 30,000 visitors at its 29 selected sites.

The Williamsburg Garden Club’s 2023 tour will feature our private garden at our 100-slip protected deep-water marina for those joining the event to explore. The portion of the tour on our grounds will highlight the walkability and picturesque setting our homes have along the Chickahominy and James Rivers, as well as our community’s beautifully built homes. All of our member-owned community homes are along Harbor Road at our marina in James City County. For many visitors, this will be their first glimpse of the Governor’s Land at Two Rivers. And for some of our members, this will be the first time they have shown off their homes in our hidden gem of a neighborhood.

For more than 25 years, Sarah Huddleston, a member of The Governor’s Land at Two Rivers, has visited properties across Virginia during Historic Garden Week as a Garden Club of Virginia member. However, this year, she and many other members of our community will have the honor to open their homes and gardens this spring to the public for viewing as part of the Williamsburg Garden Club’s 2023 tour.

Garden Club of Virginia chapters choose the properties to highlight each year based on their visual appeal and historic or design interest. Club members then decorate the homes with elaborate floral arrangements. Sarah Huddleston’s home will be one of the lucky locations chosen for decorating, as will be the boats in our marina. We can’t wait to show all of our guests how everything has been styled.
